Is it safe to do yoga if I have an injury or a medical condition?
It is always recommended to consult your health care provider if you are unsure. In general, yoga has been shown to be an excellent way to support the body in its healing process. Always inform your teacher if you have any concerns so, they can address your specific needs.

Why Meditation?
"There are two main goals. One is to experience a place where all your questions and wants have been answered. The first is to have no goals. The height of meditation leads us to a place of wholeness where there is nothing to seek. The second goal is that from that experience you are fully capable of expressing that kind of experience and fullness in your life. The goal of meditation is truly to achieve both." - Rod Stryker

But…I am not flexible! Can I still do yoga?
Flexibility is not the goal of yoga it is simply a by-product. If you can breathe…you can do yoga. One of the most meaningful attributes to develop through a yoga class is not yoga tricks or flexibility feats but stability. The value of asana/postures is to remain stable and centered in the body, mind and breath. Asana is a tool for self-reflection; it helps awaken dormant areas of the body and helps remove blockages on both the physical and energetic levels. And of course as one regularly integrates yoga into their life they will without a doubt become more flexible.

What is so important about the breath?
The breath is the key - without the focus of breath you are not doing yoga. In Hatha Yoga, the breath work creates change on many levels. In asana practice, focusing on the breath helps to maintain awareness in the postures, and to move through tension and physical or mental/emotional blocks. It patterns the body to remain calm - one doesn’t react to events with such extreme emotions after just a short time practicing yoga. Yoga creates health, working the cardiovascular system and the lymphatic system, thereby cleansing the body of toxins. Most importantly, focusing on breath keeps one in the present moment where everything is perfect and just fine, right now.

I had a recent surgery and I'd like to join your class but I'm not sure which one to attend.
Talk to us in advance about any concerns you may have so we can fit you into the appropriate class. Always inform us of any injuries, illness or any discomfort prior to any class. Yoga is very safe but, certain postures may aggravate parts of the body. Remember to respect your body and its capabilities.

Why should I bring my own yoga mat?
It will help you perform properly and effectively in all your exercises. A yoga mat can also provide traction and cushioning as you change position so you will be able to maintain balance and practice yoga with ease. The mat should grip on the floor to prevent you from slipping or sliding. While you may borrow a mat, it's a good idea to have your own; it makes sense financially. With prices this low your commitment shouldn't play into your decision, but your feelings about other people's sweat should.

Where can I buy a Yoga Mat?
See our online store, to choose from many mats whether they are our special Fiery Sun Fitness mats or mats from other vendors.

Why do you close the doors 5 minutes before class starts?
Out of consideration of everyone's time we want to start and end the class on time. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before class to leave enough time to sign in, pay if you need to, roll out your mat, find your props and settle into class. To minimize late arrivals which are disruptive to class we close the doors 5 minutes early to eliminate a stressful start.
